So you have decided to curl and add volume to your head of hair, the next question is, which tool is right for you? Curling irons or curlers and hot rollers each have their own pros and cons and determining which one is right for you depend on a few factors. Factors such as the type and amount of hair you have, the style you’re going for, and the amount of time you have to spend on your style.
Both types of styling tools require some heat up time; however hot rollers require more time than a traditional curler. Some rollers can take up to 15 minutes to fully heat to the proper temperature and when you are trying to quickly style your hair, 15 minutes may be too long to wait. Many curlers only take 60 seconds to heat, although some can take up to two minutes.
Hot rollers are also somewhat inflexible when it comes to varying the type of curls they produce. Using smaller or larger curlers can vary the size and tightness of curls, however, it would not be recommended to use hot rollers to achieve a flipped out look or spiral curls. Curling irons come in a variety of sizes to help you achieve tighter or looser curls along with the flexibility of different styles of curls such as a flipped out or spiral curl.
Transportation is another area in which curlers and hot rollers are different. Hot rollers are often housed in a bulky case that also doubles as a way to heat the rollers, making traveling with the rollers and not the case pointless. Curling irons however are much easier to travel with as they require no additional casing and are relatively small in size. This makes having great hair even when you’re on the road easy and convenient.
Both hot rollers are curling irons have pros and cons. Rollers are great for styling an entire head of hair when time is not and issue while traditional curlers are an easy, inexpensive way to style your hair many different ways. Knowing the differences between these styling tools will make achieving your ideal look possible.
